Sprinkle Doughnuts and Champagne Pool Party

Grabbing fast onto a small slice of sunshine we found over the weekend, we pulled all the stops and threw ourselves a pool party complete with sprinkled doughnuts and champagne.

It was a vow of mine to make more use of our beautiful pool at the start of this year and I think we’ve easily doubled the amount of times we went near it from last year. Of course, getting this totally cute doughnut float from a friend helped tremendously in motivating me to head to the pool — how happy does it look and how can you not want to just sit and float in it all day?

Thank you so much, everyone, for your kind words on the Hurricane post — it was really good to know that I wasn’t the only feeling this way at this age. A friend of mine sat me down and drilled some sense into me.

We’re only 25. Maybe we are meant to feel lost, to be jarred out of our comfort zone, so we can finally find out what it is we really want. As someone a few years older and who has been through it, she assured me that I’m not lost. We’re not lost.

We just don’t know what our goal is just yet and at this age is when we’re supposed to start shaping it as we go along. No one knows what they bloody want at 25. But she also assured me that it will shape and cement itself slowly but surely, and the more fun I try to have while on this journey to finding it, the faster it will happen.

I am not lost. I am on a journey which goal just isn’t clear to me yet. But, at the very least, I am on my way.

I agreed to this small pool party also because it felt like a small closure for me — nay, a celebration — to the end of worrying too much and trying to grasp at things that I don’t and won’t ever understand. Why try so hard when maybe we are meant to be lost; meant to be exactly where we are right now; to grasp around a bit so when we finally find our way, we’ll appreciate it all the more. Right?

So just in time for summer, let’s have more pool parties with the happiest doughnut floats and champagne and save our worries for another day.

Oh, and make sure there are real doughnuts too. Xx.
